Skype is one of the most well-known platforms for online video conference. It is the most suitable for those having a videocall including two people at the same time. Even though multiple people can simultanously join the call, however this option is only available up to a certain number of participants. Over this amount Skype is no longer free, you have to pay. In this aspect, it might be a disadvantage compared to platforms like Zoom or Google Meets, that actually enabled the aforementioned sites to grow at a faster pace during covid.
The application is also available on Android and iOS and probably considered much more welcoming and user-friendly than its competitors. Just like every videochat platform, Skype also gives you the option to write messages to each other while videocalling and also use nice but a fairly obsolete emoticons during the conversation.
Some of its main features include:
- Audio and HD video calling.
- Smart messaging.
- Screen sharing.
- Call recording and Live subtitles.
- Call phones.
- Private conversations
However, due to the above mentioned reasons, Skype has been facing quite serious challenging in the previous years. There are less users and its SkypeBusiness function did not get into the spotlight either. Skype urgently has to make actions to develop its marketing mix, open up to innovations and change its value proposition, as well.
